La Isla del Encanto

If you ever vacationed on the island of Puerto Rico, you can see why it's called 'La Isla del Encanto' (the island of enchantment).

Puerto Rico has the best of both worlds. It's a vibrant Caribbean island with all the benefits of the United States. It's rich in history, culture, and nature. There's something to enjoy for every kind of tourist.

My latest adventure was a last minute trip to Puerto Rico. Bought the tickets 9 days ahead of departure. Reserved a beach front condo 6 days before departure. Boarded a 6am flight from Washington, DC and was on the beach by 1:30 pm.

VAMOS A LA PLAYA

Isla Verde Carolina, Puerto Rico

I spent most of my beach time with a beach chair, cold beers, sun tan lotion on the beautiful beach of Isla Verde. It's about a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport. Three miles of white sand and crystal blue water surrounded with a mix of hotels and beach front condos, no doubt Isla Verde has a great beach vibe.

A bar serving cheap beer and food- the heart and soul of Puerto Rico

I found a great chinchorro in Isla Verde.

Old San Juan

Explore Old San Juan by hopping on a trolley operated by the National Park Service.
