Food defines a culture. Every region, religion, and country has culinary traditions that make up their culture.

And Puerto Rico is no different. The Puerto Rican food represents it's landscape, colonial past, and it's own identity.

Here's what I tasted (and drank) while on vacation:

Coco loco served in a coconut

Coco Loco served in a coconut served at La Playita Restaurant.

Mofongo at Raices

The Pina Colada was invented in Puerto Rico!

Disclaimer: I did live in Puerto Rico for about one year as a child. My favorite memories were camping with my Girl Scouts troop in El Yunque, visiting the bioluminescent bay on the island of Vieques, touring the Don Q home in Ponce, walking the streets of Old San Juna, and the beaches in Fajardo.
