Biking 50 miles in one day is a huge accomplishment !
Within one week of turning 31, I biked 50 miles in one day. That's my first accomplishment since I've turned 31.
I couldn't have asked for better weather to bike there was a light breeze, slightly cloudy, and temperatures around 80 degrees.
This was a physical journey that I proved to myself (and my boyfriend) that I have the endurance and strength to bike 50 miles. It's not easy! The best part, I was able to keep up with my boyfriend for the entire ride.
The bike adventure began in Washington, D.C. pedaling past the Washington Monument and through M Street in Georgetown. Then crossing the Key Bridge, hopped on the Curtis Trail. Biking essentially along Route 66 I eventually ended up on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. Along the trail I saw a dear pop out of the woods.
Lunch at Reston Town Center helped me relax. On the way back we stopped for a 'water' break at Caboose Brewing in Vienna, Virginia. It's located right on the W&O Trail!
About nine hours later, coming back into D.C. I biked for the first time ever across the Roosevelt Bridge at sunset. I wish I had a picture to share with you because the view was spectacular!
I won't lie, the last half hour of biking home was BRUTAL. I felt tired, hot, my legs were hurting but it was rewarding. Nothing like a cold shower and Chinese take out to help us relax at home.
