I always enter those contests to win free trips around the world or for fun things around the city but NEVER win. This time I won thanks to Brightest Young Things!

I read this article on the Chilean DC Chef challenge and the contest asked readers to comment on your favorite dish is right now in DC for a chance to win two tickets to the 2016 Chilean Chef Challenge. I wrote Ramen at Haikan (with the spice bomb).

The evening was delicious!

Organized by ProChile, Foods From Chile and the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) DC chefs and mixologists competed in a friendly competition to show of their skills with Chilean products such as salmon, olive oil, pisco, and wine.

My favorite dish Olive Oil Merquen Salmon was by Chef Victor Albiso of Del Campo. The salmon melted in your mouth along with sauteed greens.

The drinks were flowing at this event. I always thought Peru was famous for their pisco, well Chile has some fine pisco I learned! My favorite cocktail of the evening was Pisco Sbagliato by Nick Farrell of Iron Gate. The Kappa pisco was mixed with orange rica rica syrup and sparking wine (my favorite).

The judges picked Chef Victor Albisu of Del Campo for best dish and Tim Russell at Kyirisan for best cocktail. While the people's choice award went to Steve Mason from the Grilled Oyster Company for best dish and Amin Seddiq of Del Campo for best cocktail.

Needless to say it was a fun evening! Thank you again #BYT.
